BRIEF BACKGROUND:
Lack
of sufficient qualified pharmacists in the field led
the Chemist & Druggist Association of Tamilnadu
on December 1979, to converge on the idea to float a
trust and establish a college to render quality pharmacy
education.
The
whole pharmaceutical community rose to the occasion
and saw the
C.L. Baid Metha College of Pharmacy inaugurated on 13th
July 1980 by the then Minister of Health, Government
of Tamilnadu, Dr. H.V. Hande.
Dr. C.L. Metha set the inertia and the college was started
with full fledged infrastructure on the Old Mahabalipuram
Road, Thorapakkam, Chennai. The College was named after
the illustrious Dr. C.L. Metha for the yeoman services
rendered by him towards the cause of pharmacy education.
